  • Don't forget to get those Conduct Reports signed on the weekends.  They MUST be signed and return every Monday.

We will begin working in Chapter 12 - Angle Relationships and Transformations. They will explore translations, relections & symmetry, rotations & symmetry and dilations.

Algebra I

Students will be learning about Quadratics Functions and Equations in chapter 8.  We will be finding the max and min of quadratics, the vertex, and axis of symmetry, along with much much more. We will begin reviewing this week for a test scheduled for Friday, April 19th.


Students will be switching over to a different book.  We will be using "Theology of the Body for Teens" for the next two-three months.  It focuses on answering the questions, "Who Am I?" and "How Should I Live?"


Students MUST have rosaries at school every Wednesday. They will receive participation points and I will be checking that they have one each time we go to church for the rosary in the morning.


Social Studies

Students will discuss the preparation of and key points in the Declaration of Independence and Constitution in chapter 7.  We will take a closer look at both of these documents and how they affect us and Americans.

Students have also started researching certain delegates for a press conference.


Reading: Students will be using a reading strategy called "SLAM" to analyze poetry.  We will practice on several poems to help them break it down from its elements... to the theme... to the meaning of the poem. This week they will be using SLAM on 4 poems called “The Sky is Low, The Clouds are Mean”, “Concrete Mixers”, “Harlem Night Song”, and “The City is so Big”.


There will be a READ THEORY assignment this week. 
It will be due on Friday and is expected to ALL be done at school.

******Students were given their ReadnQuiz 4th quarter assignment.  They have until May 17th to accumulate their points to achieve the grade that they choose.

Grammar:  Students will be learning about Sentence Structure in chapter 8. Knowing how sentences are structured can help you explore the best possible way to say what you want.
Writing:  Students will begin to analyze and write a persuasive essay.

Spelling:  Students will be doing Lesson 18 this week.  All spelling activities are due Friday morning before the test.

There will be a SPELLING TEST on Friday morning!
