Packing a lunch for your child can be tricky. Below is an article about packing school lunches.
https://www.mmhealth.org/healthy-school-lunches/
We are working on self help skills and independence in preparation for Kindergarten.
Some things we encourage kids to do are:
-clean up their area after snack and lunch
-problem solve (my nose is running, I should get a tissue)
-put sweaters, shoes, coats on independently
If you can encourage these skills at home, we can work together to make your child a super kindergartener!
Academics
-Practice Flash Cards
-Count with your child at home
-Read stories together
-Practice name writing (with correct upper and lower letters in name ex: Tom, not TOM.)
Volunteer!!!!!
We always can use a hand at lunch time from 11:15-12:30 p.m. We currently need Mondays and Fridays covered!
Centers
We have been working on centers over the past few weeks. Students were randomly selected to be on teams (red, yellow, blue, and green). Due to Covid restrictions, students work independently, but on the same skills as their teammates. We do four days of structured centers Monday-Thursday and Free Day Fridays where students have the choice to revisit their favorite activities from the week. One day a week is Chrome Book Day for each team. On this day, students are working on a variety of letter, number, and strategy based games at the pre-k level. The center days are set up into three rounds. During the rounds, students work on our letter, number, and a hands-on manipulative activities. This allows Mrs. Marshall and I time to provide more individual attention to students while they work on different skills.
Math
Over the course of the year, we will cover a variety of topics based on Indiana standards. Topics include Number Sense, Geometry, Measurement, and Patterning.
*Keep practicing recognizing numbers 0-30
STEM
We will participate in STEM Lessons and Experiments that correlate with Indiana Standards.
Social and Emotional Skills
We have two class puppets Tabby and Tom Cat. They will help us explore several social and emotional situations through out the year. The cats will help us learn about Jesus, how to regulate our emotions, and how to behave appropriately in social situations.
The Countdown to Kindergarten has begun! We will be moving full steam ahead. Please continue to support your child's education with the following:
